Skincare tips to safeguard your skin from harsh UV rays

Summer can be a fun and enjoyable time, but it can also be harsh on your skin due to the strong UV rays of the sun. Here are some skincare tips to help protect and safeguard your skin this summer. Here are few tips from Raashi Walia, Head of Training, House Of Beauty. Take note.

Use Sunscreen: Sunscreen is a must during the summer months to protect your skin from the harmful UV A and B rays. Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and look for the ‘+’ symbol on your sunscreen as that’s what protect the skin from burning. Apply it liberally on all exposed areas of your skin. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if you are swimming or sweating. Sunscreen must be worn even indoors.

Wear protective clothing: Covering up with long-sleeved shirts and pants can help protect your skin from the sun's rays. Look for clothing with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) to provide additional protection.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day, and avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate your skin.

Use lightweight products: During summer, switch to lighter skincare products that won't clog your pores and leave your skin feeling heavy. Look for oil-free and water-based products that won't make your skin feel greasy.

Exfoliate: Regular exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, allowing your skin to breathe. Use a gentle exfoliant once a week to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.

Avoid the Sun during Peak Hours: Avoid going outside during peak hours when the sun's rays are the strongest, typically between 10 am and 4 pm. If you need to go out, seek shade or carry an umbrella to protect yourself from direct sunlight.

By following these simple skincare tips, you can protect and safeguard your skin from the harsh rays of the sun this summer. Remember to be consistent with your skincare routine and make it a part of your daily habit.
