Gardai have discovered the skeletal remains of a man in his 50s, who had been missing from the Sandyford area of Dublin for almost four years.
The search for Gerard Taylor has been stood down by Gardai following the sad discovery, which was made last week in Rathfarnham.
Following extensive examinations, a positive identification was made in recent days and An Garda Siochana confirmed the remains are those of Gerard Taylor, who was 55 years old when he went missing from Sandyford in May 2019.

Gerard had last been seen near Ballinteer, Dublin 16 on the morning of Saturday, May 25 2019, and a missing person's appeal was launched, while several renewed appeals have been launched in the years since.
On Thursday afternoon, Gardai thanked the public for their assistance in the search, which has now been stood down.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to The Irish Mirror: "Following the discovery of skeletal remains in Rathfarnham, Co.Dublin on 21st February 2023, a positive identification was made this week.
"The missing person appeal in respect of Gerard Taylor, who had been missing from the Sandyford area of Dublin since 25th May 2019, has now been stood down.
"We would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter."
