'Skeletal remains' discovered in property after housing staff forced their way in

'Skelton remains' have been found in a home after housing association staff forced their way inside and made the grim discovery.

Staff from Bolton at Home found the body on Hemsworth Road, Bolton, on March 9. Police were called to the scene and confirmed that "skeletal remains" had been found.

The death is believed not to be suspicious, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Bolton at Home chief executive Noel Sharpe explained: "On Thursday, March 9, one of our staff members discovered a body at one of our properties in Hemsworth Road, Halliwell, after gaining entry to the property.

"We are working with police and the coroner's office to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding this incident and are unable to comment further while these investigations take their course.

"We're saddened by what's happened and know this may be very upsetting for people living nearby. We will offer as much support as we can and encourage anybody with any concerns to contact us on 01204 328000."

Details of the death have been passed on to the coroners' office by police.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "GMP received a call to an address on Hemsworth Road in Bolton at approximately 10.50am on Thursday 9 March 2023, to reports of a deceased body.

"Sadly, skeletal remains were found inside the property. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances."

One couple, who didn't want to be named, said they moved in two years ago and were told the man at the property in question comes and goes and they may not see him.

The woman said: "It was just bones. We can't understand has no one done a welfare check.

"Gas safety checks in the tenancy have to be done every year. We can't sleep.

"No one has come back to check on us, they all left on Thursday."
