Former child star Haley Joel Osment has reportedly been arrested for public intoxication at a ski resort in California.
The 37-year-old actor, best known for his breakout role as Cole Sear in M. Night Shyamalan’s 1999 thriller The Sixth Sense opposite Bruce Willis, was allegedly detained by ski patrol at Mammoth Mountain resort in Mammoth Lakes over concerns he was intoxicated.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Osment — who is the older brother of actress Emily Osment — was later arrested by police for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. Officers reportedly sent the substance for lab testing after being unable to identify it at the scene.
The actor - who will next be seen making a guest appearance in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s Wednesday - was reportedly released shortly after being arrested, with the District Attorney for Mono County now left to decide whether to charge him.

Osment’s latest ordeal comes after he lost his home in the California wildfires earlier this year.
The Forest Gump star has struggled to obtain any financial pay-out from his insurance company, sources told TMZ.

Sharing his devastation on social media at the time, he wrote: “My heart would be so full every time I drove home. It was such a special place. I loved living there.”
It would not be his first brush with the law. Back in 2006, he was arrested after driving his car into a brick pillar, which flipped his vehicle over and left him with a broken rib and injured shoulder.

He was charged a month later with misdemeanour DUIs and pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana.
Osment was ordered to attend 60 hours of an alcohol rehabilitation programme as well as Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for six months, alongside a $1,500 (£1,133) fine.
