What happens in Six Nations: Full Contact Season 2?

Six Nations: Full Contact season 2 will once again takes us behind the scenes at the historic Six Nations rugby tournament, but this time from 2024. We meet the teams, the key players and their families as we share the intense ups and downs of the competition.

England fly-half Marcus Smith comes under the spotlight in the second outing of Netflix’s glossy sports series and he can be seen scoreng an incredible winning drop goal against eventual title winners Ireland.

"Rugby is getting massive, the sport is reaching a different audience and it’s just amazing to be a part of," says Smith, 25.  "I want to play in that number 10 jersey as many times as I can, and I feel now is the time to nail down my position in the team. I’m just raring to take this England team to a different level."

As well as all the action from the games, the fly-on-the-wall docuseries also takes a closer look at the off-field lives of top players like Smith, who’s seen in meetings with his sports agency Roc Nation, shopping for a flash new Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and then sustaining an injury ahead of England’s first game against Italy.

"We compete as hard as we can in training because we’re desperate to get selected,’ says Smith. ‘The Six Nations is very intense and that’s how you want to practice because we know the games are going to be like that. Unfortunately in the hardest, most intense training session of the week I felt a massive pop in my right calf. I was like, ‘this is not good news’. The last thing I want to do is let the boys down."

Later in the series, cameras also go behind the scenes with Scotland winger Duhan van der Merwe and his wife Nika, Wales’ young 21-year-old captain Dafydd Jenkins (see pictured below) and England full back Freddie Steward as he fights for his place in the team.

Meanwhile, England captain Jamie George shares what it was like to bravely lead out his team against Scotland just days after losing his mum, Jane, to cancer. "You don’t know how to feel, you don’t know how to think,’ says George, 34. ‘She was the biggest rugby fan and she loved watching me play, and when all’s said and done I’ve got the opportunity to make some people very proud, whether they’re in the stands, whether they’re watching at home or whether they’re not with us anymore. I wanted her to be there in that moment and I just had a quiet word, ‘come on mum talk to me’."
