A six-year-old child is in hospital after being mauled by a dog and bitten on the face at a Scots park.
Emergency services were called to the incident at Holm Park in Torqueer in Dumfries on Thursday April 6. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to a bite on her face.
Her current condition is unknown. Officers have launched an investigation into the incident and have appealed for information.
They want to hear from those who may know the dog's owner. The dog is described as a small ginger/brown, rough terrier-type dog and may have been wearing a red collar.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 6 April 2023, a 6-year-old child was bitten on the face by an unaccompanied dog at Holm Park, Troqueer. The dog is described as a small ginger/brown, rough terrier-type dog and may have been wearing a red collar.
"Police are appealing for information to trace the dog and owner and ask if you live in the area or know of the dog, please get in touch with 101 quoting reference PDG0067550423.”
