SIX people have been injured after a fire erupted at an industrial estate in North Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were sent to Blairlinn industrial estate in Cumbernauld at around 2.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a blaze.
Six fire appliances, six ambulances, a trauma team and a resuscitation rapid response unit were sent to the scene.
Footage and pictures shared on social media showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky as the fire engulfed a single-storey building.
Emergency crews remain in attendance with the blaze ongoing.
Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed firefighters passed six casualties into their care.
Five of the people were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, while one other person was taken to the University Hospital Monklands.
The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 14:55 to attend an incident at Blairlinn Industrial Estate, Cumbernauld.
“Six ambulances, three special operations response teams (SORT), a paramedic response unit, a trauma team and a resuscitation rapid response unit (3RU) were dispatched to the scene.
“Five patients were transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and one patient was transported to University Hospital Monklands.”

Emergency services have asked people to avoid the area.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.35pm on Tuesday, 1 April, to reports of a building fire at 60 Mid Road, Blairlinn Industrial Estate, Cumbernauld.
“Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters found one single storey building well alight.
“A further four appliances, two high reach appliances and specialist resources have been mobilised to the scene.
“Six casualties have been passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and firefighting crews remain in attendance.

“Police Scotland are on scene evacuating nearby buildings. As a precautionary measure, the public in the Greenfaulds area of Cumbernauld are advised to stay indoors and keep windows closed.”
According to local reports, the smoke from the fire can be seen from Glasgow and a number of businesses on the premises have been severely affected.
