Scotland's lochs, lochans, and rivers are usually a key part of the breathtaking scenery that makes our wee country so popular with visitors and residents alike all year round.
With the seasons changing and the weather becoming brisker, a walk along the shores of some of the most beautiful lochs is often the best way to see the vibrant colours of autumn as the leaves on the trees turn from emerald green to crimson reds and eye-catching golds.
All across the country, these stunning waterways offer their own individual and enchanting experiences with some really having to be seen to be believed.
With that in mind, we've put together a list of some of the many incredible lochs you'll find dotted around the country.
And while Loch Lomond and Loch Ness rightly get a lot of the press, we want to highlight the other beautiful waterways we reckon you should check out when the weather is good.

Loch Affric

Widely considered to be the most beautiful glen in Scotland Loch Affric, which sits at its heart is surrounded by stunning pine woods and is ideal for nature spotting with golden eagles and red squirrels to be found nearby.
Loch Maree

This remote loch can be found among the dramatic northwestern Highland scenery of Wester Ross. Achingly beautiful it's well worth the trip.
Loch Awe

With the haunting ruins of Kilchurn Castle standing sentinel, Loch Awe is the longest freshwater loch in Scotland and is hugely popular with photographers for the way the changing light of the day plays on its surface and surroundings.
Loch Shiel

Both the Glenfinnan Monument and the Viaduct (famous to any Harry Potter fans) lie close to this majestic Highland loch near Fort William meaning there is plenty to do and see.
Loch Morlich

The shores of Loch Morlich, near Aviemore, are where you'll find the only award-winning freshwater beach in Scotland. Surrounding by staggering scenery and ancient Caledonian pine forests it has to be seen to be believed.
Loch Lomond

What more can be said about Scotland's most famous loch? Lying close to Glasgow it offers some of the most incredible scenery you'll find anywhere in the world and there are plenty of incredible places to walk – our choices would be the village of Luss and a hike to the top of Conic Hill in Balmaha.
