A six-month-old kitten has died after being shot twice by a sick attacker in Aberdeen.
Little Tango was fatally injured after he was shot in the cheek and abdomen by a pellet gun in the Sclattie Park area of the city on Saturday.
Vets believe the culprit was aiming for his head.
He died on Monday after returning home in visible pain and incontinent.
The kitten had only started venturing outdoors one week before the attack.
Heartbroken owners David O'Neill and Mandy Anderson have branded the shooter a 'coward' after they discovered the nature of the attack.
David, 54, said the family and Tango's sister Coco have been left distraught by his sudden death.
He told the Record: "We thought he was attacked by another cat but the vet said he was shot twice - once in the cheek as the bullet was embedded and once in the stomach as that damaged his intestines.
"We are all devastated.
"This person needs to be caught.
"Where we live is quite secluded. We thought the cats would be safe here.
"It is deplorable and it is callous. To shoot him twice is absolutely disgusting.
"The person who shot Tango knows who they are.
"We really want that person to be brought to boot."
The couple have now offered a £500 reward for anyone with information.
Police are continuing to probe the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Sunday, 24 April, police received a report that a cat had been injured after being shot by a pellet gun in the area of Sclattie Park, Bucksburn.
"Enquiries are ongoing into this matter."
