Six Missing in Missouri: Police Suspect Involvement of Online Cult

Four adults and two children vanished without a trace.

Six members of a Missouri household, including four adults and two children, have mysteriously disappeared, leaving their loved ones deeply concerned for their safety. Authorities suspect that they may have joined an online cult led by a self-proclaimed prophet named Rashad Jamal, who is currently serving time in Georgia for child molestation.

The missing individuals have been identified as 25-year-old Michaela Wickerson, her 3-year-old daughter Malaya, Jerielle German, her son Ashton Mitchell, Naaman Williams, and Makayla Thompson. According to Wickerson's mother, her daughter unexpectedly cut off all contact with her family, quit her job, and maxed out her credit cards before vanishing in August.

The Berkeley, Missouri police have been investigating the case and believe that the group may be following the teachings of Rashad Jamal. Despite his denial of being a cult leader, he has amassed a large following and gained notoriety for his alleged prophecy. Authorities are concerned about the wellbeing of the missing individuals as members of this cult are known to sever ties with their families and actively avoid being found.

Wickerson's mother shared her anguish and heartache, emphasizing her longing for her daughter's safe return. She mentioned that Wickerson had been battling depression and had begun distancing herself from her family prior to her disappearance. Friends and neighbors reported witnessing strange behavior from the household, such as communal meditation sessions, tree-hugging, and standing naked in the rain.

It is believed that Wickerson's vulnerability and search for something deeper may have made her susceptible to manipulation. Her loved ones speculate that the cult took advantage of her fragile state and enticed her with promises or a sense of belonging.

Authorities have been conducting wellness checks and reaching out to Child Protective Services since Wickerson began isolating herself from her family. However, the missing individuals have managed to evade detection, heightening concerns for their safety.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement agencies are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Michaela Wickerson, Jerielle German, Naaman Williams, Makayla Thompson, Ashton Mitchell, and Malaya to come forward. They are hopeful that the missing individuals will be found safe and reunited with their loved ones soon.
