On Friday, a United Airlines flight bound for New Jersey was diverted to New York Stewart International Airport in New Windsor due to high winds and a sick passenger. The flight, United Airlines flight 85, had departed from Tel Aviv, Israel, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The plane landed safely at around 6:45 p.m. after encountering high winds at Newark Liberty International Airport. Despite reports of turbulence, a United spokesperson clarified that there was no extreme turbulence during the flight.
Upon landing, twenty-five EMTs and paramedics responded to the airport to assist the passengers. While some passengers were treated for minor ailments, one individual had to deplane due to a medical incident. Additionally, a few other passengers were attended to by medical personnel for possible motion sickness.
Out of the 310 passengers and crew on board, six individuals were taken to local hospitals for further evaluation. The remaining passengers were able to refuel and continue their journey to Newark later that night.
