'Six figure sum' stolen by thief who busted open ATM in Scots town

Police are hunting a Scots crook who burst open an ATM and stolen a 'six figure sum' of cash from inside.

The thug destroyed a cash machine in Motherwell, South Lanarkshire on Monday.

An estimated six-figure sum was taken from inside the machine in Carfin Road at around 11.30am.

Police are urging witnesses, those with dash-cam footage or CCTV and anyone who spotted 'suspicious activity' in the area around that time to come forward.

Detective Inspector Laura Sands said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area around that time.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 3906 of Monday, January 31 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
