Six by Nico restaurant where queuing diners get turned down 'by the dozen' for six course experience will open in Wales next month

A destination dining and tasting experience is coming to Cardiff city centre this August as Six By Nico has revealed the opening date for its first Welsh location. Opening on Monday, August 14, the immersive dining restaurant will be bringing its innovative dishes to 27 High Street - which is the former site of Zizzi's.

Six by Nico features a revolving six-course tasting menu curated by Nico Simeone and his culinary team that is "inspired by a different memory, place or idea". It already has popular branches in London, Manchester and Liverpool, among other places having first opened in 2017 and its London branch has been previously described as being "the busiest restaurant on Charlotte Street" where staff were "fobbing off hopeful walk-ins by the dozen" - if this doesn't make you excited, we don't know what will.

Starting at £39 per person, each menu tells a story through a series of artfully crafted dishes all of which have been carefully designed to evoke emotion and set your senses alight. For an additional £30, you can have an expertly selected wine and specialist drinks pairing for an extra special meal.

Founder Nico Simeone said: "We have been lucky enough to grow our concept, since opening a small 30 cover restaurant in Glasgow in 2017. Cardiff marks a huge milestone for us, as this will be our first location in Wales.

“We are really excited to bring our ever-evolving experience to the community of Cardiff and Wales - it’s a special moment for me and the team who have been here since the beginning, we can’t wait to show off the Six by Nico experience."

Located just a stone's throw from the iconic Cardiff Castle, the restaurant's interior will take inspiration from the medieval and Victorian Gothic architecture that decorates the city - but with a modern twist. The concept behind Six By Nico's first Welsh location will supposedly embody the characteristics of a dragonfly - from colour to personality and the interior colour scheme will see earthy tones seen throughout.

Six by Nico will be joining a whole host of new restaurants that have recently opened in Cardiff - Parallel, which will sit opposite, only opened a few months ago (have a read of our review here) along Maison De Boeuf - adding to the city's evergrowing food offerings.

Six by Nico hopes to open on Monday, August 14. For more information, see the website.
