Six arrested after guns, cash and clothes seized in Co Antrim

Six men have been arrested and four guns seized by police on Wednesday night, by police investigating alleged plans to commit an armed robbery.

The arrests were made after searches were carried out of a vehicle and a number of properties in Belfast and Lisburn.

The six men were arrested in relation to robbery offences, while four of them were also arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Those suspected drugs offences included possession of both cocaine and cannabis.

The men are aged 46, 44, 40, 38 and two are aged 34.

"During the course of searches last night and today, four firearms and a Taser were seized and will now be sent for forensic examination," said PSNI Detective Inspector Shaw.

"A large volume of criminal property, including cash and clothing was also seized.

“Yesterday’s arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime.

“Information from the public is key in our continued efforts to stop those who profit from illegal activities."
