The ACT government will soon open expressions of interest for construction of more community spaces throughout Canberra.
Six blocks in the territory's outer suburbs will be released in late August.
The land at Gunghalin, Chisholm, Evatt and Gowrie can be used to build community centres or places of worship.
The block at Chisholm could also be used for an indoor recreation centre or outdoor activity station.
Applications will extend to residential aged care facilities for the block Gowrie, in south Canberra.
A block in Kambah will be open for expression of interests relating only to creating a community centre.
The final block, in Molonglo Town Centre, is available only for a place of worship.
A second block will be released in Molonglo at a later date.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the developments would be important in keeping communities "growing and thriving".
"They're places where people can come together and play, access services, worship together, and strengthen social connections with each other and their neighborhood," he said.
It was hoped Canberra's religious diversity would be recognised through the construction of faith-based buildings to unify communities.
"More diversity of choice in places close to home means people won't need to travel as far to have their needs met, and it will improve the health and wellbeing of all Canberrans who take advantage of these hubs," Mr Barr said.
Expression of interest applicants will need to show community demand for whatever they propose, including how Canberrans will benefit from their proposal.
Planning Minister Chris Steel said: "The ACT Government will also continue to undertake community needs assessments to inform further releases of community land to meet the growing and diverse needs of our community."
