A Partick Thistle fan who tragically died on his way home from a match has been remembered as a ‘family man who loved being a dad’. Mark Becci suffered a heart attack at a train station shortly after he watched his side take on Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on May 5.
The 52-year-old’s sister, Nicola, told how the family are still in shock over the dad-one-one’s sudden passing. Speaking to Glasgow Live, she said: “He was getting a connecting train to take him back to Glasgow.
"I was woken up in the early hours of Saturday morning by mum who told me that he'd died, which was a massive shock. I couldn't quite take it in. We still can't believe that this has happened.
"It never crossed my mind that this would happen. You just think you have loads of time and it is just a real shock. My parents are in their 80s and they never expected to be burying one of their children.
"I feel like none of this has sunk in yet. As I'm speaking about it, I can't believe that this is real."
Amongst fellow Jags, Mark became known as Sketch and was a familiar face at both home and away games. The doting dad would often be spotted alongside his son at the football.
Nicola said: "When Mark's son was born that really brought us together. I love being an aunty and spending time with Mark and his son. He really lived for his son, he loved being a dad. He loved music but his biggest passion was football.
"He has supported Partick Thistle since he was a boy and his English team was Tottenham. Mark would travel down south to see matches with his son. He was an ordinary man who just loved his family."
Following the shock passing tributes from throughout Scottish football have flooded in. Partick Thistle released a statement following the tragic death of the super fan and their Friday night opponents Raith Rovers also passed on their condolences.
The family were blown away by the outpouring of support. The devastated sister added: "There were all these lovely tributes. We couldn't believe it. It was really amazing to see how many people passed on their condolences."
The funeral for the loving father is set to take place on May 29 with the reception taking place at his beloved Firhill Stadium.
