Siriki Dembele puts Rangers and Celtic on transfer red alert as Peterborough leave pre-contract door open

In-demand Siriki Dembele will not be sold by Peterborough this month leaving the door open for a summer switch to the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers and Celtic have been linked with the attacker and have reportedly been monitoring the striker who is in the final six months of his contract.

Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson was previously named by Peterborough chief Barry Fry as an admirer of the player, and he noted Celtic have held a long term interest which could lead to a reunion with brother Karamoko.

The 25-year-old has been a stand-out netting five goals this season despite Posh facing a battle to avoid the drop.

That has led to Bournemouth stepping up their interest in Dembele with two bids in the region of £1million being knocked back, according to Dorset Live.

The forward was left out of the draw with Birmingham sparking concerns from London Road fans that he could be on his way out of the club this month.

But boss Darren Ferguson stated following the game that he expects the player to remain at the club until the end of the season.

He said: "Dembele, contrary to nonsense rumours about him being left out due to links with another club, was injured. Simple as that.

“I think he’s got a chance for Saturday. He felt something in the game last Saturday, reported it on Monday morning.

“He was in early and got some treatment and we knew that because of his foot and ankle he was out. It’s nothing to do with anything else apart from an injury.”
