Siraj, Head penalised for heated exchange during Pink-Ball Test

Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head penalised for heated exchange

Adelaide: India pacer Mohammed Siraj and Australia batter Travis Head were penalised for their fiery altercation on-field during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series.

The Indian right-arm pacer has been penalised 20% of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal", according to ICC statment.

Head was also sanctioned for breaching Article 2.13 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the “abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire or match referee during an international match". 


Both the players received one demerit point each after their first offence in the last 24 months but escaped suspension as both teams heaved a sigh of relief. 


Siraj and Head admitted their respective offences relating to the incident accepted the sanctions proposed by Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle.

Pink-ball Test 
The incident took place when Travis Head was dismissed by Siraj after a swashbuckling knock of 140, after which the bowler gave a send-off to the Aussie star by pointing towards the direction of the dressing room.
