Sir Trevor McDonald has been unveiled as the new face of the GameMaster reboot on E4 – which is returning after almost 25 years off air.

The iconic noughties show will hit screens later this year and after months of speculation of who will replace Sir Patrick Moore, fans are excited to learn it will be another legendary Sir.

McDonald, a popular ITV reporter for five decades, said: “I am delighted to be taking on this iconic role for a new generation of viewers.”

The 82-year-old will join esports expert and gamer Frankie Ward, Scottish presenter Robert Florence, and comedian Ty Logan in the tech competition.

They will see celebrities and superfans take part in challenges in a bid to win the Golden Joystick Trophy.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the GamesMaster team, especially as the one thing I love almost as much as playing games is watching other people play them - and believe me when I say I take the art of celebrating their triumphs and failures very seriously indeed,” said Ward at the time of the announcement.
