Sir Rod Stewart reckons Ange Postecoglou is already up there with the pantheon of Celtic greats - and wants him to hang around and inflict more "heartache" on Rangers.
Postecoglou won his third trophy since arriving at Celtic last weekend as they beat rivals Rangers in the Viaplay Cup Final and he looks set to add at least one more with a nine-point lead in the Premiership. It's been all change since Neil Lennon's second spell came to a whimpering end and it's Michael Beale who has it all to do to rein them back in.
Celtic-daft rocker Sir Rod was speaking to Jim White at the Big Bash fundraiser for My Black Dog mental health charity in Canary Wharf. White, a known Rangers fan, asked him what he's made of Postecoglou and Stewart had plenty to say for himself - joking he wants to see Postecoglou stick around and inflict more misery on White's heroes.
He said: "Ange is right up there with the best with Martin O'Neill and Jock Stein. He just better stay around and I think he will, I don't think he'll just dump us and go off to the English Premier League and cause you lots of heartache!"
When asked if he'd really put Postecoglou up there with the likes of Stein and O'Neill, he said: "For my money, yeah. He turned this team around so quickly, and so astutely brought in new players that have fit in. It's worked, it's Angeball.
"Let me tell you very quickly, I know you're a bluenose. I watched the game back in the cold light of day, you were in it. There were a couple of chances, and if you'd taken them, it could have turned on a dime."
And Stewart expects to see Celtic do the business in the Champions League next season - pointing to Real Madrid's hammering of Liverpool as evidence this season wasn't a complete disaster on the European front. He added: "We can't give the same money as the big teams in Europe. I think Celtic will do well this year. Everybody laughs when Celtic lose 3-0 to Real Madrid but they pumped Liverpool the other night."
