Sir Rod Stewart’s eldest son has revealed he was “hit by a truck at a red light”.

Sean Stewart, 42, posted a picture of himself in a hospital gown with a yellow neck brace and white face mask on social media following the incident.

He wrote on Instagram: “I got hit by a truck at a red light. Hard out here on these streets.”

It is unclear where the incident took place.

Sir Rod had Sean with first wife Alana Stewart. The rock star married the actress in 1979 but the pair divorced in 1984. He has eight children in total.

It comes after Sir Rod and his son Sean avoided jail or a fine despite pleading guilty to battery under a plea deal reached with prosecutors in Palm Beach, Florida, last year.

Charges were brought after an altercation with a bouncer at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach on New Year’s Day, 2020.

According to a police report the two men were the "primary aggressors" and the singer apologised.

Neither the 76-year-old rock star nor his son were in court when the plea was entered on their behalf.

“No one was injured in the incident and a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation,” his lawyer said in a statement at the time.

“Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high-profile pro ceeding would cause.”

Sir Rod is a member of the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was knighted by the Queen in 2016.

His hits include Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, You’re In My Heart, Hot Legs and Maggie May.
