Sir Kenny Dalglish sends message to Mohamed Salah after new Liverpool contract

Sir Kenny Dalglish has given his seal of approval following the announcement that Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term deal to stay at Liverpool.

The 30-year-old Egyptian has ended months of speculation by committing his future to the club and legendary Kop hero King Kenny has hailed the new deal as the 'best signing of the summer'.

Following the departure of strike partner Sadio Mane, supporters had been concerned that Salah, who has scored a remarkable 156 goals in 254 appearances for the Reds, would follow him out of the Anfield exit at the end of his existing contract, but that is now all a distant memory after the PFA Players' Player of the Year ensured that he will see out the remaining peak years of his career on Merseyside.

Reacting to the news on Twitter Dalglish wrote: "Fantastic news about @MoSalah. The best signing of the whole summer. Thank you Mo you have made Liverpool fans everywhere ecstatic! YNWA"

The praise for Salah could not come from a higher source than Dalglish, who won three Europeans Cups and eight league titles with Liverpool as a player and manager and is regarded as one of the greatest figures in the club's history.

By signing a new deal, Salah his given himself the opportunity to not only achieve further domestic and European glory with Jurgen Klopp's team, but also the chance to close in on the club's top goal scoring records. Salah is currently two goals behind Michael Owen in the all-time list and 16 adrift of Dalglish himself. But he will need another 190 before his Anfield career eventually ends if he is to match Ian Rush's all time total of 346.
