Sir Elton John still 'can’t see anything’ four months after losing sight in right eye

Sir Elton John has revealed he has ‘lost’ the sight in his right eye and has been unable to see properly for four months.

The British singer, 77, shared in September that he spent the summer battling an infection, while he remains hopeful his vision will eventually return, the issue has currently left him unable to work on new music.

He told Good Morning America: “It’s been a while since I’ve done anything, I just have to get off my backside.

“I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France.

“It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest.

“There’s hope and encouragement that it will be okay, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment, because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Because I can’t see a lyric for start.”

The star—who shares sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, with husband David Furnish—admitted the situation has left him feeling “floored.”

He said: “We’re taking initiative to try and get it better. But at the moment, that’s really what we’re concentrating on. It’s never fortunate for anything like this to happen.

“And it kinda floored me, and I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”

Despite his health struggles, the Tiny Dancer icon says he still feels "lucky” for his career and family life.

He said: “I’m so lucky. I’m the luckiest man in the world.

“I’m so proud of the documentary, I’m proud of my sons, I’m proud of my attitude towards myself and what’s going on. I’m just very lucky and very grateful.

“I am an iron man, because I’ve been through so much and come out the other side.”

John first opened up about how he had been left with ‘limited vision’ in one eye due to the infection in September.

He told Variety: “What's happened with my eye has been very distressing.

“Because I'm used to getting out in the morning, looking at all the newspapers, looking at the charts, looking at everything, how the world is doing creatively. And I've lost that for the time being.”
