Sir Elton John at Glastonbury 'may be last UK show' with The Killers frontman among special guests

Sir Elton John has left fans in awe with a stellar performance at Glastonbury as he took to the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night for a "special and emotional" show.

The Rocket Man singer, 76, took to the stage in front of thousands of screaming fans while fireworks lit up the sky as he took a seat on his piano. This highly anticipated performance has been dubbed as Sir Elton's final UK gig before he retires from touring at the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

After performing The Bitch Is Back, Sir Elton told the crowd: "I never thought I would ever play Glastonbury and here I am.

"It's a very special and emotional night for me because it might be my last show ever in England, so I had better play well and I had better entertain you, you've been standing there so long and I really appreciate all the outfits and everything."

He then launched into renditions of Benny And The Jets, Daniel, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues.

Sir Elton's husband David Furnish previously revealed the singer was to be joined by four special guests during his headline set. David could be seen watching the performance from the side lines Paul McCartney and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

The special guests taking to the stage included The Killer's frontman Brandon Flowers, Stephen Sanchez, Jacob Lusk of The Gabriels, and Rina Sawayama as Elton’s fourth and final guest of the evening.

As Stephen took to the stage to perform his own song, Elton told the crowd: "When I chose my guests for this show, I wanted to have newer artists save for one person and this next boy I heard last year on the radio in America, and then it was a hit America and a hit in Britain.

"I couldn't believe that someone of 19 or 20 years of age could write and sing a song like this. It was a nod to the past but it sounded so beautiful and fresh. So I've asked him to come to Glastonbury to do his song. It's not one of my songs. I'm gonna play with him.

"But he's an amazing young talent and you gotta give him a biggest reception because you'll love him. Steven Sanchez."
