The biggest branch of cycle shop Evans in the UK is to open in Cheetham Hill.
The store, on the Cheetham Hill Retail Park, is over 17,000 sq ft, and will stock more than 400 bikes.
Six time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy will be spending three hours at the store on its opening day this Saturday (February 26) from 1pm.
“The last few years have been extremely challenging for so many up and down the country, but one silver lining has been the rise of families who have taken to two wheels,” Hoy said.
“Access to stores like this play an important part in developing the next generation of riders, and I look forward to meeting some of these on Saturday.”
Evans’ head of cycling strategy Matthew Atkinson added: “We are thrilled to announce the opening of the UK’s biggest bike shop in our new Cheetham Hill store. Manchester is a very important location for us and this will be our third store in the city.
“With over 400 bikes on display, the new store comes equipped with a TRI UK area showcasing time trial bikes plus swim and run zones, a dedicated E-bike area, a fitting studio from BikeFitting.com, plus a dedicated colleague training hub where all full time colleagues will be trained to Shimano Service Centre standards.”
Evans already has branches on Deansgate and another in Trafford Park, among its 50 sites across the UK.
Customers turning up on opening day in Cheetham Hill will be able to weigh in a 10% discount on all bikes.
There will also be a prize draw to win an electric Brompton bike worth £2800, and the first 100 customers will also get a signed copy of Chris Hoy’s bestseller How To Ride A Bike.
