Chelsea made the decision to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager after a season in which Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter both lost their jobs at Stamford Bridge. Todd Boehly's first season as co-owner could have gone much better as the Blues finished 12th in the Premier League.
Pochettino has officially begun his role as head coach at Stamford Bridge and is now preparing to put his players through their paces in pre-season training. Chelsea will be hoping to improve drastically under the Argentine next season with the addition of a few new signings - along with plenty of outgoings.
Christopher Nkunku completed a £52million move to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig. This was quickly followed by Nicolas Jackson arriving from Villarreal. Kendry Paez, Dujuan Richards, Alex Matos and Diego Moreira have also been signed by Chelsea and are expected to bolster the club's academy ranks as Boehly continues to bring in the best talents from across the world.
Pochettino had planned to add a new goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker to his squad ahead of next season - but the sheer amount of outgoings at the club could see more arrivals than he had originally planned for. Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, N'Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic have all departed the club with more sales expected in the coming weeks.
Despite all the changes at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino has been backed to get Chelsea back into the Champions League and challenging for trophies. Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson's preference for the Argentine to take over at Old Trafford following Jose Mourinho's exit in 2018 speaks volumes about Pochettino's qualities and skills as a manager.
United were in complete disarray at the time and opted to bring in club icon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to steady the ship on an interim basis rather than appoint Pochettino. Ferguson will know better than anyone else what it takes to turn a club into champions and enjoy long-term success - and the fact he wanted Pochettino at United says a lot.

At the time of Solskjaer's appointment, Pochettino was without a job after being let go by Tottenham. The Argentine then joined Paris Saint-Germain and went on to win the Ligue 1 title before stepping down from his role.
United had another chance to appoint the 51-year-old, but opted for Erik ten Hag instead. The Dutchman helped United return to the Champions League and now Chelsea will be hoping Pochettino can complete a similar achievement at Stamford Bridge in his new role.
