Sir Alex Ferguson will return to the dugout to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Manchester United’s treble-winning season.
The Scot will take charge of a legends team against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on May 26.
Ferguson, who suffered a brain haemorrhage last year, is now a regular visitor to Old Trafford on matchdays again - and was in the crowd for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint Germain.
He has confirmed that he will be able to take to the dugout for the reunion match with Bayern, which will take place 20 years to the day of the sides meeting at Camp Nou in the Champions League final.
“I’m really looking forward to what will be a special day at Old Trafford,” said Ferguson. “It will be great to catch up with some familiar faces and a great opportunity to support the work of Manchester United Foundation.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - now interim manager at United - scored a dramatic late winner with almost the last kick of the match to secure a 2-1 win and an unprecedented treble.
Proceeds from the Treble Reunion will go to United’s foundation.
