Single woman accused of being 'delusional' after buying baby outfits despite not being pregnant

A woman has been accused of being "delusional" after buying a wardrobe of baby clothes for a little girl despite being single and not pregnant. Naya Ofili, 21, started buying clothes for a future baby girl after being given a babygrow her mum, Deborah, 43, who had been keeping it in case she had another girl.

Now whenever Naya - who has four younger brothers - spots a cute baby outfit, she can’t help but pick it up. She has spent around $60 AUD on a babygrow, dress, two tops and two long-sleeved turtlenecks.

She plans to keep expanding the wardrobe if she finds anything she could picture her future little girl in. The pharmacy student, from Brisbane, Australia, said: “I’ve always wanted to be a mum.

“The dream is to have a baby girl. I have faith that I’m having a baby girl. If I see something I really like, I purchase it and keep it.

“My friends think I’m crazy and delusional. I’m investing in my future.”

Naya started collecting clothes for her future baby’s wardrobe after keeping a babygrow her mum had wanted to throw out. She said: “My mum had bought a baby grow but had my brothers.

“She wanted to throw it away. I said ‘I’ll keep it’. I saw my baby in that outfit.

“Then I started to see cute outfits. I pick some up that I really liked. And keep it in my wardrobe. I don’t actively go out and search for some.”

Naya’s favourite of the six outfits she has bought is a green summer dress. She said: “It’s so cute.

“I can really imagine my baby girl in that outfit. My friend saw my baby clothes in my wardrobe.

“She said I was delusional. She asked if I'd ever thought it might not be a girl - but I know I will have a girl."

Naya is currently single and focusing on her studies and hopes to have a family after “establishing” herself. She said: “I want to make something for myself. I want to finish university and be well-established.

“I need to get married and not be single first. My type on paper has to be family orientated.

"He has to be ambitious. He has to be wealthy to be able to support me and the kids. That’s what I look for in a man.”

Naya fears her obsession with buying baby clothes before she is pregnant will “scare” men away – after she shared a video of her collection. She said: “I worried if this chases all the guys away.

“But a lot of people were in support. Lots of other people do it. Some people do it who have fertility issues. It has helped them feel normal.”
