Singer shares most awkward moment at wedding - when groomsman stole her mic

A Portsmouth-based wedding singer has shared some of the most memorable moments she has witnessed while touring the country for various people's big days. Lucy started her career seven years ago after leaving her previous job in telemarketing. The 29-year-old became well-known after posting a video of herself singing in a dressing gown and uploading it on Facebook which instantly got her a huge following.

"I uploaded a 15-second video of myself in my dressing gown! It got about 1K likes, and that night I took three bookings, bought my equipment, and never looked back," she told Diamond Factory, a luxury engagement ring store.

Since posting that short clip Lucy has been able to take her singing all over the country for many wedding performances.

During that time she has certainly had some bizarre moments that she may never forget, and the first of these moments made the atmosphere very awkward as Lucy was ripped away from her microphone.

"The funniest thing that has happened to me is that a groomsman grabbed my microphone and started singing, TERRIBLY," explained Lucy.

This must have made the guests beg for her to get the microphone back so they could continue enjoying their time.

One wedding where Lucy performed awarded her with one of her most memorable moments ever as it introduced her to her now partner called Callum who was the best friend of the groom.

"He was outside with the other guests, singing and dancing away to my performance. When I finished, he approached my mum, asking if she wanted any help with packing down," explained Lucy.

"My mum then asked him whether he'd help us to the car with our equipment, and he replied, only if your daughter gives me her number, I gave him my number, he helped us to the car, and the rest is history!”

Lucy continued by saying that despite some awkward moments, it is rewarding to be able to do this job and spark emotion in people on their special day.
