Rapper-singer Sean Kingston, known for his 2007 hit single “Beautiful Girls”, has been found guilty alongside his mother Janice Turner in their federal wire fraud case in a Florida courthouse on March 28.
The pair were first arrested in May 2024 when Kingston had his rented mansion in Florida raided, and were both charged with five charges of wire fraud that totalled more than $1M USD ($1.5M AUD) in stolen funds from other businesses. They were both also charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud each.

A grand jury took three and a half hours to deliberate and come up with a guilty verdict, and both Kingston and Turner could face up to two decades behind bars.
According to a TMZ report, Kingston allegedly wept in court after hearing the jury’s decision and asked US Marshalls to “protect my mother”.
Kingston and his mother were accused of defrauding luxury jewellery, vehicle, and bed businesses, as well as a company specialising in microLED televisions.

The 35-year-old singer was sentenced to be confined to a house arrest with electronic monitoring, while Turner remains in custody until their next sentencing due to the court believing her to be a flight risk.
A press release written by the Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida stated that the two “unjustly enriched” themselves.
“The defendants enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewelry, and other goods purchased by the defendants,” the statement read.
Kingston and Turner’s sentencing will be held on July 11th.
