Singapore Airlines Flight Diverted After Fatal Turbulence Incident

Singapore Airlines (SIA) planes sit on the tarmac in Singapore's Changi Airport

Boeing has expressed its readiness to support Singapore Airlines following a recent incident involving severe turbulence on a London to Singapore flight. The flight was diverted to Bangkok, and tragically, one fatality has been confirmed by the airline.

In a statement to CNN, Boeing stated, 'We are in contact with Singapore Airlines regarding flight SQ321 and stand ready to support them. We extend our deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one, and our thoughts are with the passengers and crew.'

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft involved in the incident is manufactured by Boeing. The airline has attributed the turbulence to the incident and further inquiries have been deferred to the airline and local authorities.

Singapore Airlines is widely recognized as one of the world's safest carriers. The airline's only previous fatal accident occurred in October 2000 when flight SQ006 crashed during takeoff from a closed runway in Taiwan amid heavy rain, resulting in the loss of 83 lives on board.
