Since This Winter Promises to Be Particularly Frigid, We're Sporting Our Sweater Coats Indoors

While we realize we're beginning to sound like a broken record, winter is cold. Like insanely cold. Plus, this time around, we have that pesky polar vortex to deal with it. So it isn't just our imagination. This season is a heck of a lot colder than last winter. So we're taking a proactive approach by stocking up on sweater coats. Not to rock outside, mind you. After all, it's far too frigid for that. No, we'll be flaunting them inside all season long.

Warmer than a typical cardigan, sweater coats are designed to stand up to the elements — to a degree. They're not the same as 100 percent wool or goose-down padded outerwear. Although they're great for cruising hallways and almost going outside. Or going outside in areas where winters don't routinely drop below freezing. Regardless, they're definitely marketed to wear outdoors also labeled as "coatigans" or even "car coats" in order to get that point across.

Truth is, usually they're just reinforced cardigans. Sweater coats often have plenty of personality since they're also made to be seen as your final layer.
