'Simple as that' - Raheem Sterling sends title message to Liverpool

Raheem Sterling has admitted the Premier League title remains Manchester City's to lose in their battle for top spot with Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola's side will have been delighted with the outcome of this evening's result at Anfield, which saw the Reds held to a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur after Luis Diaz's deflected effort snatched a point late on in the contest.

This scoreline has well and truly handed City a boost in the hunt for domestic glory, with the sides now level on points despite the Sky Blues playing one game fewer. The Sky Blues will be particularly desperate to secure what now represents the only trophy they are able to win this term, and former Liverpool winger Sterling knows it is in their hands.

Asked ahead of Liverpool's fixture with Spurs if he agreed with Guardiola's suggestion that the Citizens have to win all four of their fixtures to take the Premier League crown, the 27-year-old told Sky Sports : "Yeah, it's as simple as that. You don't want to bank on them dropping points or anything.

"It's as simple as: you've got four games left and if you win those four games, you're champions. That's all we should be focusing on. At the end of the day, we know that with these four games left, it is in our hands. If we win those games, it is ours. No matter if they play first or we play first at this moment in time, the only important thing is us winning all our games."

The Reds will now have to hope Newcastle United are able to do them a favour when they visit the Etihad Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
