She stuck the landing.
Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles wrote on Instagram Tuesday that it was “The easiest yes” when Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens asked her to marry him.
“I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more!” the gold medal winning tumbler wrote. “Let’s get married FIANCÉ.”
Biles and Owens posted numerous photos of the proposal and acceptance, which appeared to have been orchestrated by Owens and a pal.
“Woke up this morning with a fiancée,” he wrote on Instagram. “Appreciate my dawg @don_julio314 for helping me set everything up, she really had no clue what was coming.”
Owens told Texas Monthly in June that he had no idea who Biles was when they met online in March. He said at the time that their chemistry was matched by that of their pet bulldogs, who also hit it off quickly.
Owens credited the pandemic with helping them all spend more time together. The 26-year-old NFL player said he was blown away when he first saw Biles showcasing her athletic prowess. He also said that being together brought out one another’s competitive side, even when he comes home from a physically taxing practice.
“She’ll be telling me, `Don’t be a baby, you’re all right,’ ” Owen said.
