Simon Porte Jacquemus, designer and brainchild of luxury fashion house Jacquemus, is getting his flowers once again, this time by the Couture Council of the Museum at FIT. The council of the iconic New York school is bestowing upon the innovator the Award for Artistry of Fashion during its annual luncheon sponsored by Nordstrom on September 4 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The council's board members Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, founding editor-in-chief of Vogue Arabia and founder of D'NA, and Sarah Wetenhall, president and owner of The Colony Palm Beach, will serve as co-chairs.

"I am really happy to receive the 2024 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion supported by Nordstrom, it's a beautiful recognition for the brand and my team," says Jacquemus. "As an independent designer, I was always keen on being innovative and creative in the design of my collections and also in my communication. It's always about communicating and creating experiences with our community in a unique way."

The South of France-born designer established his eponymous label in 2009 with his late mother's memory as the foundation. With no formal training, Jacquemus has evolved into the quintessential French luxury brand known for its limitless approach to men's and women's ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, often marked by sensuous silhouettes, provocative pieces and captivating runway productions reflective of French culture. The designer most notably showed his brilliance through a collaborative capsule with Nike, setting a new standard for luxury and becoming a source of inspiration for all. "A bold creative force in the industry who started his brand at the age of 19, Simon Porte Jacquemus is also a role model for our students who look up to him as both an entrepreneur and a designer," says FIT President Dr. Joyce F. Brown.

The designer is in good company as former recipients of the award include Manolo Blahnik, Carolina Herrera and Karl Lagerfeld.
