Simon Jordan unimpressed by Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch's 'explicit criticism of Marcelo Bielsa'

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has criticised Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch for his comments on why the club have struggled so much with injuries this season. Marsch stated that the Whites’ squad were being ‘over-trained’ under the previous regime which led to a string of serious muscular and soft tissue injuries.

Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch have all missed various portions of the season which has led to a difficult campaign for the Whites. Leeds currently sit 16th in the table and have been in and around the battle for survival since the season got underway.

Since his arrival, Jesse Marsch has helped steady the ship with 10 points from the last four matches to take Leeds to the brink of survival. But after Marsch’s interview with talkSPORT this morning, Jordan was quick to criticise his comments, stating that he felt it was an attack on Marcelo Bielsa, before claiming he should keep quiet until he has achieved what he was brought in to do.

He said: “He has his view on that and if he wants to air that view, and there will always be two sides to every single story, of course he’ll have cases in point because he’ll say ‘look at the injury list and this is the by-product of it’.

“Of course, he’ll have his observations and someone will come along when he departs and leaves that will have observations about what he has and hasn’t done. I don’t think he’s wise to have said what he said. I don’t think it’s necessary to have said what he said.

“It’s an implicit and explicit criticism of Marcelo Bielsa. He has every right to do it, I just think he’ll be hoisted by his own petard at some point. I don’t think we need to give him the benefit of the doubt, he’s five minutes into the job. He isn’t pulling up that many trees.”
