Simon Jordan tells Everton what to do after Marcelo Bielsa decision with Leeds United admission

Simon Jordan says Sean Dyche would be a more suitable option for the Everton job than Marcelo Bielsa, and claimed that the Argentine would've got Leeds United relegated last season.

Frank Lampard was sacked by Everton on Monday after less than a year in charge at Goodison Park. The former Chelsea midfielder had lost nine of his last 12 Premier League games at the helm, and leaves the Toffees in 19th place.

Former Leeds boss Bielsa is the bookmakers' early favourite for the job, while ex-Burnley manager Sean Dyche is being touted as a serious option. Bielsa famously led Leeds to the Championship title in 2020, before guiding them to a ninth-place finish upon their return to the Premier League.

Bielsa was dismissed following a run of four straight defeats in February 2022, and left Elland Road with the Whites two points above the relegation zone. However, Jordan believes Leeds were heading towards relegation under the 67-year-old, and has cast doubts over Bielsa's suitability for the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park.

"If you asked the Leeds fans, and you ask people around Bielsa, he will be lauded and applauded because he got Leeds out of a 17-year slump, but he would've got Leeds relegated as well," Jordan told talkSPORT.

He added: "If you believe that Bielsa has the capability linguistically, because don't forget it takes him a while to get his message across, because first of all he's got the language challenge, and second of all he's got the culture. If you believe that those two things are going to get these players up and at it.

"Because half of the battle that they've got is the players are as much of the problem as everyone else. If they get a pass and a few of them get challenged in the car park and everyone's outraged, 'oh no, the player's are getting challenge'.

"But it's those guys that go out on the pitch. If you believe Bielsa can get them front and centre facing the right way, and you believe that that kind of motivation, and that kind of dynamism is going to get you out of the problems you've got for the next four months, then yes I'm not sure.

"I would be more inclined, and people can say it's formulaic and perhaps a little lazy in its thinking, but I'd be more inclined to go for Sean Dyche but I think Everton is a shambles."
