Simon Jordan sent Nottingham Forest message after Evangelos Marinakis remarks

Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the latest words from Simon Jordan on their owner Evangelos Marinakis and his defence of the Reds' spending spree in the summer transfer window.

Jordan, a presenter for talkSPORT, defended Steve Cooper's side after making their 16th signing of the summer in the form of Morgan Gibbs-White for a club record fee of £42.5m.

"It's only crazy if he can't afford to substantiate it, subsidise it if they go down and can't unload these players," Jordan said. "The man (Marinakis) has a lot of money and is interested in building Nottingham Forest into a football club to embrace all the emotion and all the opportunity that Forest could get with a very decent manager like Steve Cooper."

Many fans have had their say over Jordan's words, with many agreeing with the former Crystal Palace owner. Here's what they had to say on social media...

@GailSummerlin : For once I agree with Simon what people don’t understand or don’t want to is when the season finished and we were promoted we had no squad not even for championship never mind premier league

@mikerivers1 : For once I agree with Simon. Finally, he sees what we’re trying to do. In buying the type of players we have, should worst come to worst we’ll be selling Premiership players and would (given their age) almost certainly make a profit eg Lewis O’Brien, Neco Williams. It won’t come to that but we can all see that membership of the finest league of world football is not for the faint-hearted.

@philippinesred : He's seen the light and changed his tune.

@JENK02 : I have been arguing very similar, most of our permanent signings are young are not on massive wages like the loanees (at less at pl level) and most are internationals, so there is resale value there. I hope they have worked some relegation clauses in to the contracts, in which case I think we will be fine

@GrahamWoodcock : He's right. We needed a rebuild. The total spend is high but we've bought a lot of players... The individual fee for MGW is high (and we've paid over the odds) but presumably there's a reason for our single-minded obsession with him.
