Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan admits he's a major admirer of Ange Postecoglou and echoed Parkhead punters over his standing within the game.
The 57–year–old has been a rip–roaring success in Glasgow and is closing in on a second consecutive Premiership title after Saturday's thrilling 3-2 win over Rangers opened up a 12-point gap. And Jordan has revealed he was tipped off about Postecoglou's managerial chops by Gordon Strachan when others were raising doubts over the former Australia boss upon his arrival.
Postecoglou's domination since taking the reins in Glasgow's east end has led to countless links with English Premier League vacancies, however, the man himself has been steadfast in his commitment to Celtic and stated some observers may be surprised with how long he remains in situ. Jordan was quick to big up the former Yokohama Marinos boss with a potential Treble within Celtic's reach. He believes he's Premier League class and doesn't need to settle for any old job if he decides to make the leap.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "He probably wants to be discounted from that mention (Leicester), why would he want to be? He's top of the Scottish Premiership, a side who will be back in the Champions League next season. Why would he want to be in a relegation scrap with Leicester at this time?
"I think he will end up in the Premier League. I think he's perfectly capable of managing in the Premier League and managing in a position in the Premier League that isn't in a relegation battle. I think what he is doing what the job he was brought to do in at Celtic which was to turn them back into a winning machine, take the Scottish Premiership back from Rangers which they duly did and build upon on that. He's doing that and he will eclipse a lot of the previous work which was done, possibly, by previous managers. Brendan Rodgers being a particular manager who prospered after going to Scottish football coming back and managing at the aforementioned Leicester.
"I think he is one of those who has come in, given an opportunity. When he walked in the door a lot of people went 'Ange who?'. I spoke to a few people like Gordon Strachan who went 'wait and see, wait and see what this fella is all about.' I like Antipodeans, I think they come with a backbone, a culture, a little bit of respect about them. I think he was exhibiting that when he was indexed to the Brighton job earlier this season. He distanced himself pretty quickly.
"Again, if Tottenham were to come knocking on his door, which they possibly haven't, I think you would find himself were maybe he might become distracted at the end of the season, but, not withstanding that, you still have the lure of Champions League football and will want to take Celtic deeper in that competition. They are going to win the league again, win it at a canter."
And Jordan is adamant the lure of taking Celtic up another level in European football will prove hard to turn down once again. "They tend to stay in the Europa League, it's the Champions League where there is a disparity between the competitivity they produce in Scottish football to what they do in European football. So it's significant, both teams hardly covered themselves in glory but Rangers were an absolute shambles in the Champions League. And Celtic were marginally better.
"The bottom line is you've now got into the Champions League, you've got an extra £30m being in the Champions League again. So you get an opportunity to go again. I think he's a very, very good manager."
