Simon Jordan doubles down on Jesse Lingard criticism after Nottingham Forest transfer

Former Crystal Palace owner and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has doubled down on his criticism of new Nottingham Forest signing Jesse Lingard.

Jordan has been critical of Lingard collecting a high salary at the City Ground, citing his lack of games over the last three years and a reliance on social media to boost his career and profile. The point has been a contentious one argued by many, with some people more bothered about Lingard's off-the-field antics than his actions on it.

Last week, Jordan tweeted: This is what £200k a week buys… Let’s hope that JLingz doesn’t Ming zz at #nffc... Time will tell if £10m on a player with undoubted talent, but not a lot of return in the last 3 years, alongside a unhealthy obsession with Tik Tok, is money well spent?

NottinghamshireLive's Matt Davies gave his take on criticism of Lingard last night, namechecking Simon Jordan, and the former Crystal Palace owner doubled down in a direct reply on social media.

"A player who's played 3,000 Premier League minutes in three years i.e 33 full games," Jordan said to Davies. "A career that’s stalled and is seemingly supplemented by social media: is worthy of somewhere between £6-10m a year salary. Are you all bloody mad! Of course it gets commented on."

Davies replied: "With 0 transfer fee and a 1 year deal, it's smart business. Lingard obviously works in terms of clicks so talkSPORT plough it out positive and negative. Some of the negative is ridiculous, including your tik tok obsession line. Even if you extend that to all social media, so what?

"If he's crap for Forest then I'll say it, but he's not kicked a ball. If he gets convicted of a crime or acts immorally then I'll call him out. The JLingz brand isn't for me personally, but I'm not the target audience. Neither are you. If he does well for Forest, I'm not fussed."
