Simon Jordan bristles at Rangers quality question as he fires back at critics of 'poor' Scottish Premiership

Simon Jordan believes fans should focus Rangers' quality if they triumph over RB Leipzig rather than criticise Scottish football.

The Ibrox side are looking to turn around a 1-0 away deficit in the Europa League semi finals as they seek a meeting against West Ham or Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville.

Jordan knows fans and media alike can be quick to talk down about the league Rangers play in.

But he was quick to point out that Scottish sides regularly come out on top over English sides with a potential 'Battle of Britain' against West Ham on the cards.

He told talkSport: "Of course we will and the arguments will be about the Scottish Premier League and how poor it is.

"Actually when it comes down to it in the Battle's of Britain that we have seen before, the Scottish teams have come out on top."

Co-host Jim White stepped in to agree, stating: "As Rangers did against Leeds all those years ago."

Both Rangers and West Ham will be looking to overcome first leg defeats in order to reach the final on May 18.

And Jordan reckons people should be careful what they wish for but does admit he wants to see both British clubs progress.

"I hope Rangers go through and I hope that West Ham go through," added the former Crystal Palace chairman.

"I just hope we don't turn it into the battle of Britain. We just turn it into two teams that have done really, really well.

"People will but I don't think it should ever be a discussion at this stage who you would prefer to play. When you are in a final you play who you play, get past the semi final first."
