Simon Cowell confessed he tucks into a classic snack at home to avoid eating out in public.
The Britain's Got Talent judge, 62, has lost more than three stone following an order from his doctor, who said he needed to shed the pounds and dramatically overhaul his lifestyle.
Simon, who shares son Eric, 8, with fiancée Lauren Silverman, denied he had undergone weight loss surgery, and admitted he indulges in a retro meal before heading out.
The music mogul confessed he tucks into a plate of beans on toast before going out for dinner with Lauren as he knows he’s not going to like anything on the menu.
“I’m not a big eater. I don’t enjoy it that much. I’d rather have a beer than eat, any day of the week,” he told The Sun.
“Sometimes when we are going out for dinner because I know I’m going to hate the food, I have baked beans on toast before I go, then eat nothing,” Simon said.
The X Factor creator said he hated going to weddings or parties “where the food is horrific”, and would much rather stay at home.
Simon insisted his weight loss was simply down to completely changing his diet, which his doctor said was like “a schoolboy’s diet from the 1960s”.
“He did my blood work and pee and all the rest of it, and a month later the results came in,” he explained. “So he sent me a list of things I can’t eat… and I pretty much stuck to it.”
He said he used to “eat pies” all the time, and has now been forced to ditch carbs - including his beloved pizza - as well as red meat, dairy, sugar and gluten in favour of a healthier diet.
Breakfast is now a smoothie, and lunch is soup and grilled tomatoes, and he’ll regularly go without eating dinner, especially if he’s going out to a restaurant.
He said he can’t remember the last time he ate a pie, after living off them for so long, and said the “hardest thing” to give up was pizza.
“I can now have a tiny, tiny amount and that’s enough,” Simon complained.
