Simon Cowell’s miracle wedding after years of vowing he would never tie the knot

Simon Cowell is set to exchange vows with Lauren Silverman next month in a star-studded intimate ceremony in London.

After years of leading a bachelor lifestyle, wooing glamorous and gorgeous women from around the world, the music mogul has had his wild ways tamed by American socialite Lauren.

The stunning 43-year-old began dating Simon in 2013, but their relationship was far from smooth, as she was already married to businessman Andrew Silverman - who was also Simon’s close friend.

The couple soon welcomed son Eric, and even after becoming a dad for the first time, Simon refused to pop the question to Lauren, but after his almost fatal e-bike crash in 2020, in which he broke his back, many speculated that the TV impresario had changed his mind.

He was testing the bike at his home in Malibu when he fell off, and as a result, he had to undergo a six-hour operation, which left him with long-term health problems.

“I didn’t talk about it too much at the time,” he told OK! “I kept a lot back. It was a lot worse than people thought. I had a lot of long-term nerve damage as well.”

Lauren was by his side as he recovered from the operation, and was once again supporting him when he fell off his electric bike for a second time last year.

“I know I was lucky to survive my back surgery. I have a lot of people to thank for my recovery,” Simon shared.

Another reason the former bachelor is heading down the aisle is because of his young son Eric, as he previously revealed he wants to “do the right thing” for the youngster.

“As he gets older, he will be asked more and more about his parents, and I thought it was the right thing to do for him,” he told The Sun.

It was rumoured in July 2020 that Simon wanted to expand his family, and according to Heat magazine, he wanted a little girl to add to his brood.

“Now he’s ready for another baby. Ideally he’d love a little girl and everyone says they can see him with his own little princess,” a source told the outlet.

It was speculated during the Covid-19 lockdown that Simon was ready to pop the question to Lauren, but he waited until Christmas last year to ask her to marry him.

Simon admitted one of the reasons he proposed was because he couldn’t face the idea of dating again, and credited Lauren with changing his life for the better.

The TV and music mogul said they were “getting on really well” during lockdown, and had even grown closer, prompting him to rethink their relationship.

“We were in the same house for over a year and I thought, ‘Well, actually, we get on really, really well’,” he explained.

“I also just couldn’t see myself ever dating anyone again. The idea of going out on a first date now is too weird,” Simon quipped.

He was also influenced by his beloved mum and dad, and said their lasting marriage helped sway his decision to ask Lauren to be his wife.

“My mum and dad had an amazing marriage and I used to call them best friends, and I think that’s a big part of it,” he told The Sun, as he said couples “have to like each other, not just love each other”.

He simply added: “Look, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
