Simon Cowell calls Jamal Edwards 'extraordinarily talented' in heartfelt tribute

Simon Cowell has praised the late Jamal Edwards as he reflected on the loss of the 31-year-old on Tuesday evening.

As a music mogul himself, SYCO's Simon pointed out Jamal's "natural gift" for spotting talent and praised the SB.TV founder's ambition.

The father of one - who worked with Jamal's mum, Brenda Edwards, when she competed on the X Factor in 2005 - also sent his love to Jamal's family as they mourn the music pioneer who died on Sunday morning.

Alongside a capture of Jamal shared on Instagram, Simon wrote: " I had the pleasure of meeting Jamal. He was an extraordinarily talented young man, so ambitious, a real entrepreneur and had a natural gift for talent.

"I was so very sorry to hear about his passing. I’m sending my love to his family. Rest in peace, Jamal. Much love, Simon."

Below the post, several of Simon's social media followers penned kind words.

"May his soul rest in eternal peace," one said about Jamal.

Brenda penned a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain today, and it was read out live on air by Susanna Reid.

"It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world," she shared.

Yesterday, a pal told that Jamal passed away on Sunday morning after his final DJ set at a bar the night before.

"The details are still not clear but we've been told that it was a heart attack," the friend, named Dwayne, told MailOnline.

"He was out DJing on Saturday night and eventually got home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"The family are still trying to come to terms with it all, but we've heard that his mum found him in his bedroom and called an ambulance."

The source went to Acton High School with the businessman and said that his family shared with pals that Jamal suffered from a heart attack and was discovered by his famous mother.

Jamal was credited with helping launch the careers of stars like Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Dave, was the eldest of the Loose Women presenter's two children.

Jamal's talents as a pioneer led to him receiving several accolades throughout his life.

In 2013 he was chosen to be the ambassador for the youth charity, The Prince's Trust and Jamal was appointed an MBE for services to music in 2014.
