Simon Cowell in awe as Britain's Got Talent's Ant and Dec interrupt audition to give 'phenomenal' contestant golden buzzer

Britain's Got Talent's Simon Cowell was left in awe on Saturday after Ant and Dec all but interrupted the end of a "phenomenal" audition to award the act with the fifth and final golden buzzer - meaning they will immediately go through to the live shows - a decision viewers were wholeheartedly in agreement with.

It comes after the four judges, Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden, already gave their ultimate vote to previous auditionees - including the Chicken Shed Theatre Group and singer Olivia Lynes - meaning Ant and Dec were the final team to give one performer the chance to go straight through.

The 28-year-old from France, whose act is named MB14, wowed viewers at home and the judges with his beatbox performance of a musical composition - but it wasn't just a song he was singing. The performance saw the French man transform his vocal chords into a series of different instruments, creating a piece of music by recording a sound he'd made and repeating it with a looping device alongside other sounds he created then and there. Introducing the audition, he said: "All you're about to hear is made with my voice, I hope you like it."

The four celebrity panellists watched on with wide eyes as the performer made sounds similar to that of a flute, a sitar and percussion - as well as singing operatically, causing Amanda to speak out in astonishment.

As the crowd went wild, shouting for the hosts to use this opportunity to press the golden buzzer, while the judges were out of their chairs dancing, Ant and Dec ran onto the stage and down the stairs to give the musician his chance - just moments after MB14 concluded his performance

As the golden confetti blasted around the musician and the pair gave him a warm embrace, the judges described him as "phenomenal" and said they hadn't had anyone else like it on the show before.

Bruno said: "Literally, I was hypnotised by your music. That is the power of music. That it gets you and it makes you want to dance. You did a fantastic job."

Alesha added: "You are absolutely phenomenal. We've never had anyone like you on the show."

"We've seen nothing like it, it was fantastic," added Amanda, while Simon said: "I don't know where you've been, seriously, we should have heard of you by now. This was phenomenal. I mean seriously phenomenal."

Turning to the award-winning presenting duo, Simon added: "[You] were like greyhounds out of a track. We didn't have a chance to say anything. Anyway, it's so well deserved. It's one of the great great great auditions you will never forget."

And it seems viewers couldn't agree more, as they said it was the "most deserved golden buzzer ever".

Twitter user @Lady_Fender said: "@antanddec golden buzzer act is 1000% BGT winner this year. He was phenomenal #BGT", while @amymariee98 added: "MB14 was amazing! Golden Buzzer definitely deserved! Very talented man!u @BGT#BGT #BGT2023 #BritainsGotTalent"

A third, @DavyWatt40, added: "@BGT Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer BeatBoxing act is unreal! Fantastic BeatBoxing/MB14's! A talented chapSomething different. Voice artistry Loved it!"

Britain's Got Talent continues next Saturday at 8pm on ITV1.
