Simon Cowell cringes on BGT as couple marry on stage days after his wedding reveal

He proposed to Lauren Silverman at Christmas, but Simon Cowell looked like he wanted to be otherwise engaged when a couple got married on stage at a Britain’s Got Talent audition.

The 62-year-old groom-to-be cringed and looked “totally uncomfortable” as Ben and Kerry, from Ashford, Kent, tied the knot in a surprise ceremony.

An onlooker said: “He appeared like he’s still not a man that bothered about weddings.”

And fellow judge David Walliams, 50, couldn’t help but tease Simon about his impending nuptials.

Ben and Kerry had auditioned by trying to break a pie-throwing world record. When the crust had settled, Ben told the audience he and Kerry had been engaged for 16 years and stunned his fiancee by revealing they were finally going to wed, then and there. Their friends and family were in the crowd and a celebrant was there, ready to officially marry them.

On the judges’ panel, Amanda Holden, 50, looked delighted by the spectacle, while David began teasing Simon, who looked unimpressed.

The onlooker said: “I think Simon might have thought it was a joke at his expense at first, but as the ceremony took place he was fidgeting in his seat.

“He looked uncomfortable and David was clearly taking the mickey out of him as he has done throughout the auditions regarding his engagement.

“Simon was making hand gestures to the audience which looked like he wasn’t that interested and wanted to get it over with.”

Judge Alesha Dixon, 43, said: “Just when you think this show can’t get any crazier, we have an actual wedding.”

Simon, who has been with Lauren, 44, since 2013 and has a son, Eric, seven, with her, said: “I don’t know what’s happening any more.”
