Pilgrims from around the world are expected to flock to the Vatican for Pope Francis’ funeral, following his death aged 88 on Monday, 21 April.

The pontiff will lie at St Peter’s Basilica for public viewings from 11am on Wednesday, 23 April, the beginning of a three-day period for the public to pay their respects ahead of Saturday’s funeral mass.
