Silversea’s newest ship sailing once-in-a-lifetime itineraries

Silversea, the ultra-luxury cruise brand owned by Royal Caribbean, is sending its newest ship, Silver Nova to a brand-new area of the world later this month. It is embarking on several months of bucket-list itineraries aimed at those who want to experience far-away destinations in extreme luxury.

The Silver Nova incorporates innovative design features and became the 12th ship in Silversea’s fleet when it launched in 2023.

Like other Silversea ships, it is somewhat smaller than the mega-ships (and even the older ships) offered by mainstream cruise lines such as its parent company Royal Caribbean It has gross tonnage of 54,700, and for context, this is roughly one-fifth the size of Royal Caribbean’s massive Icon of the Seas. It holds 728 passengers and 556 crew members and is intended to provide a high-end experience for cruisers who aren’t too interested in a party atmosphere.

Silver Nova makes its Asia-Pacific debut

Since launching in July 2023, Silver Nova has sailed in Europe and out of Fort Lauderdale, but it is about to head to a new region of the world for the first time. The ship will arrive in Kushiro (Hokkaido) Japan on Sep. 27, where it will embark on two voyages before heading to Australia and New Zealand for seven long (16-18 day) sailings from November through February. It will then return to Asia for the remainder of its season through April 2025.

Also launching during Silver Nova’s inaugural Asia-Pacific season will be Silversea’s new culinary program known as SALT. (Sea and Land Taste). This program includes both onboard and land-based culinary experiences, with the latter including culinary-focused shore excursions. For example, the cruise line is offering a garden foraging and lunch experience with a prominent chef at a botanical garden in Adelaide, Australia.

This will be the first time Silver Nova has sailed the Asia-Pacific region, but it won’t be the last. The ship is set to leave Asia in April 2025, but is scheduled to return to the region in September, with sailings that include a 47-day circumnavigation of Australia.

The bottom line is that if you’re looking for a bucket-list experience in Asia or Australia and New Zealand – especially if you’re a fan of unique and luxurious culinary experiences – Silver Nova might be one to add to your shortlist.
