Chandigarh: Silver prices crashed by ₹5,000 per kilogram in a single day in Chandigarh, dropping from ₹1.01 lakh/kg on April 3 to ₹96,000/kg on Friday. Gold also saw a dip, falling ₹1,200 to ₹92,800 per 10 grams.
Mahendra Khurana, MD of Sundar Jewellers, attributed the slump to Trump’s tariff policies and weakened industrial demand. Silver, widely used in solar panels and electronics, faces reduced consumption due to sectoral slowdowns.
With Chandigarh’s daily bullion trade averaging ₹30 crore, analysts suggest retail investors may seize the dip to boost gold and silver investments.
