Where?
In the very heart of one of Los Angeles’ coolest districts. It sits on a corner just south of Sunset Junction. Some of the best restaurants in the city are practically on the doorstep alongside a thriving art and music scene and lots of independent shops or cafes. There are also hilltop views and the infamous Hollywood sign can be seen from some of the guest rooms.
Style
Every corner has been accounted for in what is a very satisfying blend of smart architecture and thoughtful interiors. Vintage leather furniture, wood and stone accents, lush greenery and a joyful dose of natural light flows throughout the property. Handmade Moroccan and Italian tiles; terrazzo nightstands and vanities by Concrete Collaborative sit handsomely with low-slung chairs, plants and artworks by locals.
The upper pool deck, made from natural flagstone with an inlaid walled cactus garden, is just the place to unwind with a cocktail. A few steps down you’ll find Marco Polo Trattoria and Bar, where the circular green marble and wood bar is a fabulous mash-up of California cool and Italian flare. No doubt you’ll leave brimming with interiors inspiration.
Which room?
The Deluxe King ADA, with views out onto the hills, is a comfortable retreat. We loved all the little details including the minibar with gourmet snacks and drinks sourced from local suppliers. The walk-in rain shower will leave you feeling refreshed whilst the sink which doubles as a vanity area in the bedroom is another fun but functional design idea.
Extracurricular
You’ll be spoilt for choice with places to explore but a few of our favourites include L&E for seafood, Botanica for brunch, Bowery Bungalow if you are seeking cosy Middle Eastern, Cafe Stella for fancy French and Bacari for a night out. You are just across the road from the concept shop of dreams Mohawk as well.
Food & Drink
There are many great dining options in the Silver Lake area but don’t let Marco Polo fly under your radar. The food here is delicious. The combination of coastal Italian cuisine with fresh local ingredients is delectable. It is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. Don’t miss out on the baked clams, the Bucatini cacio e pepe is irresistible and did we mention there’s olive oil cake? The friendly bar team will ensure that there is a Spritz on its way to you too.
Best for…
Exploring one of Los Angeles’ most fun neighborhoods safe in the knowledge that you are staying at its finest residence. We were really impressed by the enthusiastic and friendly team that added substance to the style.
